Fire-fighters rescued a woman from a house fire in Larkhall last week.
Flames could be seen from a flat above two shops in the town – Burns the Stationers and Ellie’s Boutique – in Union Street.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.17am on Friday, May 15, to reports of a house fire in Larkhall.
“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the town’s Union Street, where firefighters were met by a fire within the roof space of a house.
“Crews helped lead one female casualty to safety before transferring her into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“She did not require to be taken to hospital.
“Fire-fighters currently remain on the scene working to make the area safe.”
Burns the Stationers wrote on their Facebook page the morning of the fire, giving an update to their customers. They said: “Morning, there has been a fire in the flat above the shop, fortunately no one has been injured.
“As at the moment, I have not been able to gain access to the shop to assess any damage.
“I will post on Facebook when we will be back open.
“Sorry for any inconvenience and we hope to be back serving you as soon as possible. Thanks.”
Since the fire, Ellie’s Boutique have posted updates on their page.
This week they stated: “Unfortunately the fire above Ellie’s Boutique has caused much more damage than we first thought.
“We will be unable to open for a few months at least as there needs to be substantial work done to the flat’s roof and our shop.
“We are feeling emotional and it’s a lot to take in, but what will keep us going is all the love and support that we have received through this difficult time.
“We will still be in business working from home, doing our deliveries with new stock arriving this week.”
