Sports stars scoop awards

Lockdown doesn’t stop honours being handed out

- MARK PIRIE

The top sporting talent in Hamilton have been rewarded for their efforts, despite the lockdown.

Hamilton Sports Council 2019 Sport Awards had been scheduled to take place last month but the awards ceremony was axed.

The group felt it was still essential to recognise the achievements of the outstanding sports people, clubs and schools for the year 2019.

And the chair of Hamilton Sports Council, Hugh Ainsley, said “We congratulate our winners and indeed all of our nominees and we are sorry we are unable to recognise their achievements with our normal awards ceremony.”
