Interim chief exec starts at health board
NHS Lanarkshire has appointed an interim chief executive to help lead the fight against coronavirus.
Heather Knox was named to the position after Calum Campbell left to become interim chief executive of NHS Lothian.
She is currently NHS Lanarkshire’s deputy chief executive and director of acute services, and will take on her new role from June 15.
Neena Mahal, chair of NHS Lanarkshire, said:“we are delighted to appoint Heather as interim chief executive of NHS
Lanarkshire. She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills to the post, and made a sterling contribution as acting chief executive earlier this year.
“Heather’s leadership of our acute services has made a huge impact on our ability to deliver the best possible care to the people of Lanarkshire. She will bring the same drive, focus and commitment to her role as interim chief executive and I look forward to working with her in her new role.”
Heather Knox said:“it is an honour to have the opportunity to lead NHS Lanarkshire at such a crucial time for the health service. Our staff have performed incredibly and shown amazing commitment to rise to the challenge of Covid-19.
“Further challenges lie ahead as we continue to respond to the pandemic and work on the recovery of our services in a way that is fair and equitable to all. I know I will be well supported in meeting these challenges by our Board, corporate management team and fantastic staff throughout the organisation.”
