A youngster from Hamilton has braved the shave to raise vital funds and thank NHS staff at Glasgow Children’s Hospital for looking after him.

Seven-year-old Caleb Cambridge missed 100 days of school last year after being in and out of hospital with health issues and decided he wanted to repay everyone for giving him the best of care.

After smashing his fundraising target of £500 in one day, donations are still flooding in with over £1100 now raised for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Delighted at the success of the fundraiser, Caleb, who attends Neilsland Primary School, said: “I want to say thanks to Glasgow Children’s Hospital, you are the best! I’m happy people are donating to help all the sick kids.”

Caleb’s health has suffered since he was a baby, having chronic asthma and gastro oesophagal reflux disease, among other problems. And last year, he spent nine months in and out of hospital for treatment and an operation.

“I’m so proud of him”, Caleb’s mum Stacey Cambridge explained. “Caleb wanted to do it to help all the sick children who are in hospital just now.

“Especially during Covid-19, all these kids can’t see their families so they’re funding ipads so kids can keep in touch with their families too.

“Caleb’s in the high-risk category so we’re just keeping him at home but he still goes to see his consultants and things like that.

“He really appreciates everyone that looks after him.

“We nearly lost Caleb twice. He had an asthma attack at 18 months and
