ON THE BEAT Moving toward Phase 3

Withinspector

-

The Scottish Government has announced further relaxation of coronavirus lockdown legislation and guidance as it moves into Phase 3 of its route map out of the pandemic.

The change allowing people to meet indoors represented the highest risk taken so far in the relaxation of the lockdown.

It has been indicated that Phase 3 may last longer than three weeks as the impact of the changes are assessed.

I wish to make it clear that, as Scotland moves through the different phases of the route map, there will be a corresponding move away from enforcement towards asking people to take personal responsibility and apply their judgement based on public health guidance.

It’s been another busy week for our policing teams across the sub-division as we target our priority areas. Last week as part of our plan to disrupt the supply of controlled drugs numerous persons were reported for alleged offences.

A drugs search warrant was granted and a quantity of plants, cannabis and other items were seized. A 19-year-old male and a 17-year-old female were arrested and a report sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

On July 7, police attended an address in Nevison Street, Larkhall. Whilst within an address police allegedly observed and seized a quantity of herbal cannabis. A 37-year-old female was charged.

On July 8, police had cause to stop a vehicle on Almada Street, Hamilton. A quantity of herbal cannabis was allegedly seized and a 31-year-old female was charged.

On July 10, police attended at an address in Albert Street, Hamilton. Whilst at a property they allegedly discovered a quantity of cannabis and tablets. These items were seized and a 46-year-old male will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
