Boss Weir aims to add one before return

-

Carluke Rovers boss Mark Weir is targeting one more signing as they gear up for their West of Scotland League debut.

Last weekend Weir snapped up Kwaku Nyame on a new deal and have added striker Nicky Aitchison from Muirkirk ahead of the West Conference A kick-off.

However, Weir hopes to add one other new face to the side before finishing up his summer window business.

The gaffer said:“nicky was a big player for us to sign; he’s a target man and fits into the way I want to play.

“Since I came in as manager he is a player we have wanted here so I’m delighted to get him.

“With the way the squad is shaping up now I’m only really looking to add one more new players.

“We have put an offer to a player who is weighing up his options, and if we signed him that would be it for us just now.”

Weir hopes to be able to bring through some of the youngsters from the under-20 side this season to support his first-team.

He continued: “there is an interesting time ahead for us now.

“We are looking forward to getting some face to face training under our belts for both the first team and the under-20 side.

“I will be at most of their games watching them, and the plan is to have them break into the first team. That’s going to be important next season.”
