White up for Long battle

-

Motherwell striker Jordan White has already claimed the number nine jersey from Chris Long – but reckons there won’t be any anger over who comes out top trumps at Fir Park.

New forward White was handed the kit number of Long before the Englishman returned last week.

The 28-year-old striker reckons there won’t be any concerns over the decision and who is scoring in the‘well starting line-up every week.

“To be fair, initially I wasn’t going to be the number nine,”he said.

“Chris Long had that number and I respected that absolutely, but there was a time where the club maybe thought he wasn’t going to be here. So it’s fallen to me.

“I’m sure there will be no bad blood or anything, it will just mean more competition.

“It’s a great signing for the club to keep him. He’s a really good player and we have really good options going forward now.

“We all need to pitch in.you always want competition for places.”
