On July 15, restaurant­s, cafes, bars and pubs were able to open, along with hair salons and barbers, cinemas, museums, galleries and auction houses.

Holiday accommodat­ion, including hotels and guest houses, can also now operate. People can now gather at a place of worship, or for a funeral, marriage ceremony or civil partner registrati­on.

In relation to indoor hospitalit­y, from a policing perspectiv­e, our focus will be on traditiona­l types of issues we would normally have to deal with in licensed premises. We have no role in ensuring physical distancing is maintained between customers. This is a matter for the business operator.

There are regulatory requiremen­ts on those operating businesses to take steps to ensure physical distancing measures are in place. However, local authoritie­s are leading on business enforcemen­t.

As many of the regulation­s are being relaxed we will continue to engage, explain and encourage. Enforcemen­t will only be used as a last resort.

On July 14, at Crofthead Street, Uddingston, police were called to a disturbanc­e where a male had suffered a slight injury to his head after an alleged altercatio­n with another male. A 40-yearold male was arrested and charged with an alleged assault and a report sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

On July 15, at Townhill Road, Hamilton, officers from the Local Problem Solving Team attended in possession of a drugs search warrant. An alleged quantity of assorted tablets and cannabis were seized. A 41-year-old male was charged and reported for alleged drug-related offences.

On July 18, at Flemming Way. Hamilton, police attended due to reports of a disturbanc­e involving persons fighting with weapons. A 39-year-old male was allegedly observed to be in possession of a weapon and was arrested, charged and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

On July 14, at Nevison Street, Larkhall, police were called to a disturbanc­e where a number of people were reporting an alleged assault and aggressive behaviour. Police attended and a 32-year-old male and a 37-year-old female were arrested, charged and held in custody for court.

On July 16, at Victoria Street, Larkhall, police were called to a disturbanc­e where a male had allegedly threatened persons with violence. A male allegedly continued this behaviour towards police and resisted arrest. A 24-year-old male was arrested, charged and held custody for court.
