Trialist trio pen deals

-

Hamilton Accies strengthened their squad over the last week with three new signings.

Striker Tunde Owolabi, right-back Hakeem Odoffin and winger Justin Johnson all penned one-year deals at New Douglas Park following a successful trial over the summer.

Owolabi signed from English non-league outfit FC United of Manchester for an undisclosed fee, while Odoffin joined after Accies agreed a deal to bring him in from Livingston.

And former Dundee United man Johnston became their latest capture on Tuesday.

Odoffin made his debut in Saturday’s 5-1 defeat to Celtic, while Owolabi and Johnston – who know each other well from their days with FC United’s youth team – will hope to get their first taste of action at home to Ross County this weekend.

Odoffin said:“it feels really good to finally get the deal done.

“Since I got here everyone has been really welcoming. It’s good to get started. I’ve experienced the league now, I’ve played the games and it’s something I’m looking to thrive on.”

Owolabi, who grabbed 35 goals last season, commented: “I’m overwhelmed, it was always my dream to be a professional football player and I have worked really hard to get here.

“It hasn’t sunk in yet but I’m just trying to enjoy the experience.

“I’m a striker who is quick, I can score goals and run in behind. I try my best to help the team.”

And on linking up with old pal Owolabi, Johnson said:“we’re both from Manchester and I played with him at youth level, so I’m very much familiar with him and it’s good to know we’re on this journey together.

“Since arriving at Hamilton, I’ve felt welcome at this club and now everything is finally sorted after waiting.

“I’m very excited and can’t wait to get started.”
