Firm’s offer of donation is vital to kids’ charity

- MATT BRYAN

The launch of a new fragrance range by a Stonehouse company will raise vital money to help children with a life- threatening illness.

Classy Lassie Wax will donate up to £ 1 of every scented wax product sold to the Les Hoey MBE Dreammaker Foundation, based in Wishaw, who aim to make the lives a bit easier and happier for local kids going through treatment.

The charity has partnered up with the business for their new range, the first of which launched on October 1 and is named Shelley’s Star, after charity founder Les’s daughter who underwent treatment for leukaemia.

Proceeds will fund events and activities to make children’s dreams come true who face life threatening conditions. The amazing work so far has brought happiness to children who have been able to meet Ed Sheeran, the Scotland football team, and many other celebrities thanks to generous fundraising.

Angela Cook, dream coordinator at Les Hoey MBE Dreammaker Foundation, said: “The charity are over the moon to work with a local company. We’re so proud they’ve chosen us to support, and we want to do the same back for them. We hope this collaboration will raise a lot of money to make dreams happen for local kids.”

Classy Lassie Wax started during lockdown with partners Craig Ewing and Nikkole Jamieson.

They work remotely delivering many scented p ro d u c t s a i m e d at reconnecting people through fond memories.

Partner of the business Craig Ewing said: “We are all about bringing memories back and capturing that moment and memories through fragrance. It’s about reconnecting people with memories and a homemade product from a local business, so we’re encouraging people to shop local again given the pandemic right now and the way things are.

“Covid- 19 has shown we take things for granted and you can’t really do that anymore.

“Fragrances always brings back memories. It might be something your granny used to burn or some home cooking, and a lot of candles and fragrances are based around that now.

“The reason we picked this charity is because it’s local and the work they do is phenomenal. For kids with life-threatening conditions, it gives them something happy and something to look forward to, and gives them a bit of an outlook at a time when everything is going wrong for them. They need something to pick them up a bit and give them something to live for.”

Classy Lassie Wax marked their launch with a visit from charity mascot Mr Wiz.

They will continue their new releases on November 1 with their ‘Dreammaker’ collection, along with ‘Reach for the stars’ on December 1.

Donations to the charity range between 25p and £1 per product.
