Aoibhi’s fun take on mum life

- LEONA GREENAN

A Hamilton primary school pupil brought some fun to Halloween this year by dressing up as a worn-out, wine-swilling mum.

Udston Primary youngster Aoibhi Robertson spent the whole of last Saturday in costume acting out the ‘mum’ role all day long.

The eight-year-old came up with the idea by herself and even chose the tired-looking outfit – which included a some might say stereotypical messy bun, leggings, t-shirt and over-sized cardigan, complete with a baby in arm and toddler hanging off her leg.

Her mum Aimee captured various photographs throughout Aoibhi’s day starting with laundry duties whilst carrying the baby, grabbing a quick burger as she fed the newborn, a cold coffee break as the baby napped, the struggle of reaching for the television remote control as she held the baby and even rocking the little one to sleep while mum enjoyed a muchneeded glass of wine (albeit fruit juice in Aobhi’s case).

The final shot even showed a mum’s struggle of trying to carry the baby, sup wine and talk on the mobile phone all at the same time!

Real mum-of-two Aimee was in stitches at her daughter’s antics and said: “My daughter Aoibhi is only eight and decided to be a ‘mum’ this year!

“She planned her whole outfit herself and spent the whole day acting it out. She was funny and had us in stitches throughout the day with her interpretation of mum life.

“She has a little brother, Ailbe, who is only four, and she’s always been like a second mammy to him. “

Aimee, who lives on Main Street, High Blantyre, added: “She really threw herself into the part on Saturday, although I’m now worried about what she must have thought of me when I first had her brother!

“But she absolutely nailed the trials and tribulations of motherhood – from the unwashed hair to eating on the go to permanently cold coffee!

“She absolutely adores babies and kids, although I think her Halloween stint as a mum might be giving her second thoughts!”
