We need your help p

Plea to donate to needy children

- STAFF REPORTER

The Advertiser’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal for disadvantaged children needs your help more than ever this year.

Our appeal was launched last week, and together with the team at the Salvation Army’s Hamilton branch, we’ve been working hard to make sure it is bigger and better than ever before – and all in line with guidelines.

Year on year, the number of underprivileged children requiring our help rises and with the global pandemic of 2020 causing unprecedented changes, we need even more toys and gifts than ever.

Advertiser reporter Leona Greenan, who co-ordinates the campaign, said: “The next six weeks are all about gathering in donations safely, in line with all government guidelines regarding the pandemic, and getting them wiped down and into a 48 hour quarantine.

“They will then be passed to our friends in the Salvation Army in time to be sorted and distributed to the parents and carers for the children in the build-up to Christmas week.

“We can’t thank everyone enough for their support, and we look forward to receiving your donations in the coming weeks.”

Items needed include baby goods and toys for children newborn to 12, then gift sets such as fragrance, handbags, pyjamas and gift vouchers for the teenage age group.

Anyone wishing to make a donation has until 1pm on Tuesday, December 8, unless otherwise agreed with the Advertiser. Contact Leona Greenan on 01698 205179 or at leona. greenan@reachplc.com.

Items can also be handed in to the Salvation Army Hall on Burnblea Street, between 10am and noon Sunday to Friday from November 23, or from now at Starbucks in Hamilton Palace Grounds or at Rocca Restaurant on Cadzow Street, Hamilton, weekdays.
