Racing cousins impress on track

-

A Hamilton duo have taken a title and several podium finishes in their first full season in the Scottish C1 Championship.

Asteam Micro Machines, cousins Ross Dunn and Colin Main entered a car into the competition at Knockhill, which is just for Citroen C1 cars, and set their sights on the championship.

Ross took the title, while Colin finished fourth.

Scottish Motor Car Racing Series is a budget racing competition, which gives people a chance to own their own racing car, become a racing driver and compete in circuit racing at Knockhill in Fife.

The coronavirus pandemic shortened the season to six rounds over September and October, with the team stepping on the podium on every round, making them the most successful multi-car team in the series.

Ross led the 24-car packed series from the start, and it was only a matter of time before the racer took first place.

He said:“i’m so pleased about winning the championship and our performance so far, especially in our first full series against other cars from across the UK.”

Colin, who finished fourth, commented:“it was another great year in the championship for us.

“Both cars ran without any breakdowns and the late-night preparations have paid off.”

The team, backed by Strathclyde Gearbox Services, BPS Group, Hellcat Graphics and Smart Systems Scotland, are now looking forward to their third year in the series next year.

The 2021 season will run from April until October and be fought over 14 races across three tracks in the UK.
