Covid cash for groups

Nearly £5000 has been awarded to groups in the Hamilton area to help with their response to the global pandemic.

Members of South Lanarkshir­e Council’s Hamilton Area Committee agreed that five organisati­ons should receive £4802, which will be used to support their valuable work.

The following groups received money to support their Covid-19 response:

■ Cadzow Parish Church – £802 for equipment

■ Hillhouse Community Council – £1000 for children’s gift packs

■ Beacons – £1000 for family support with addictions and self-care packs

The Haven – £1000 for digital wellbeing support services

The Parent and Child Support (PACS) Group – £1000 for outdoor activities and materials for children with additional support needs

Although most activities are under restrictio­ns at the moment, groups can still apply for community grants.

Hamilton Area Committee also awarded the following community grants:

■ Dalserf Village Garden Club – £350 for an environmen­tal project

■ Hillhouse Link Tenants’and Residents’ Associatio­n – £400 for materials

112th Lanarkshir­e Scout Group,

Hamilton – £385 for materials

Meeting remotely, via video call, the committee was reminded that due to the measures in place to help control Covid-19, groups are currently allowed flexibilit­y to reschedule outings and events to a later date. Groups are asked to keep the council informed of any arrangemen­ts of this kind.

In the event a grant is not able to be used for the planned purpose the funds will require to be returned.
