The SFA have announced the full list of dates for this season’s Scottish Cup, with the SPFL revealing when the post-split fixtures in the Scottish Premiership will take place.
An SFA statement confirmed that the Scottish Cup final would still take place at Hampden, despite the venue being scheduled to be used for this summer’s European Championships.
Ian Maxwell, Scottish FA Chief Executive said:“the Scottish Cup is our flagship competition and we are pleased that the temporary suspension of the lower leagues has now been lifted to allow the matches to resume.
“With the green shoots of hope emerging with the continuing successful rollout of the vaccination programme and the announcement of restrictions easing in the future, the news that the Scottish Cup Final will be played in May at Hampden Park will hopefully come as a further boost to Scottish football fans this week.
“The remaining rounds will be played in quick succession and with the fixtures coming thick and fast as the domestic season comes to a conclusion, the showpiece Scottish Cup Final will once again provide an exciting finale for the Scottish football season.”
Hamilton enter the competition at the third round stage and have already been drawn to host St Mirren. The tie was originally set for January but the competition was suspended, following the lower league shutdown.
That ban on lower league football taking place has now been lifted, with teams in League One, League Two and some Highland League teams allowed to return to action from March 20.
The Scottish Cup 2021 fixture dates are:
Second Round: Tuesday, March 23 Third Round: Saturday, April 3
Fourth Round: Saturday, April 17 Quarter-finals: Saturday, April 24 Semi-finals: Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9
Final: Saturday, May 22
Meanwhile, the dates for the Premiership post-split fixtures have also been revealed with the first game scheduled for the weekend of April 10/11.
The final round of league fixtures will be played on the weekend of May 15/16. The post-split fixture dates in full are: Round 34 – April 10/11 (weekend) Round 35 – April 20/21 (midweek) Round 36 – May 1/2 (weekend) Round 37 – May 11/12 (midweek) Round 38 – May 15/16 (weekend) Accies already know they will be in the bottom half of the split and will discover their opponents once pre-split fixtures are completed on March 20/21.
Tuesday sees the start of the four day jump racing extravaganza – the Cheltenham Festival.
The Shunter seldom runs a bad race and he is this weeks each way selection – Wednesday , 2.30.
Friday will see the reappearance of Tritonic. He finished second in the Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton Park in July last year and now find himself as one of the favourites for the Triumph Hurdle – Friday 3.20. He has the class to win this race as long as his jumping holds up.
