Hamilton - Meet The Team
Operations manager
Terry Buchan has over 14 years of experience in the funeral industry and leads the team at Fosters in Hamilton. Known for his calm, professional manner he takes great pride in ensuring every family is treated with the utmost dignity and respect.
Terry explains “When your family suffers a bereavement it can feel like your whole world has been turned upside down. Many people have never had to arrange a funeral before and don’t know where to start. Our role is to quietly support and guide them through that process, helping with paperwork and making arrangements. From the moment we bring your loved one into our care to the days following the funeral itself, we’re available 24/7 to help.”
“We get to know lots of local families and I really enjoy hearing about people’s lives.
It’s heartwarming to see families come together when they need each other most.”
Terry continues;
“At Fosters we always put the needs of the family first. Approaching every situation with kindness and compassion can help make a very upsetting time, just that little bit more bearable for families mourning a loved one.”
Working alongside Terry is funeral arranger Sarah Reilly. Sarah has a background in customer service, having worked in the bereavement department for HSBC before joining Fosters.
Asked about her role as a funeral arranger Sarah says “Helping bereaved families is very rewarding. Every life is unique and there are lots of little things we can do to help a family create a service that reflects their loved one’s life. It could be our staff wearing a tie in a favourite colour, or a recent example is placing a pair of ballet shoes on top of a coffin for a dance teacher. It is often the simplest of gestures that bring the greatest comfort to family and friends gathering to say goodbye.”
Giving your loved one a personalised funeral needn’t cost the earth. Fosters charge less so you can do more. Sarah explains “We offer the highest quality professional service for a very reasonable price. Our personalised funerals start from £1995 which means you can do more for your loved one, like hiring a piper or paying for a headstone.”
“Families have the option to keep things low key, or to celebrate an individual’s life in a unique way by arranging a motorbike escort or choosing a horse drawn hearse. It’s a very personal choice and at Fosters we do our best to accommodate all requests” said Sarah.
