Free pizzas for homeless
A Hamilton pizzeria has made a long-term commitment to feeding the town’s homeless people every week.
Boss Pizza, based on Almada Street, has partnered with Hamilton Churches Drop In Centre and will provide freshlycooked pizzas for the service every Monday.
The Drop-in Centre is open each night from 7pm and offers soup, hot meals and goodie bags free of charge.
Situated to the rear of Beckford Street, it is manned by a group of dedicated volunteers who come from all walks of life to help those in need.
The aim of this charity is to help and support those within the community who are homeless or facing times of crisis by providing food and clothes all free of charge.
Rev Malcolm Anderson, who oversees the centre, is delighted Boss Pizza has offered to help.
He told the Advertiser: “‘We are absolutely thrilled to receive the generous support from Boss Pizza and we sincerely thank them all for their generosity and support.
“During the last year we have provided a frontline service to ensure those who are homeless or in crisis can come to our centre and receive the support they deserve.
“Through the timely intervention from Boss Pizza, we can continue to provide this much needed service, which I hasten to add our service users are delighted about.”
Boss Pizza manager Ross Findlay added: “The Hamilton Churches Drop in Centre provide such a valuable service to those in need.
“We take our hats off to the small army of volunteers who contribute their efforts to helping those in need on a daily basis.
“Boss Pizza has really taken off since we opened last summer and the least we could do is to contribute back to the community that is supporting us.
“We are delighted to be supporting Rev Anderson and his team of volunteers, helping by what we do best, making fresh dough pizzas, is a pleasure for us.”
