Determined Swpl2willbe completed
Hamilton Accieswomen are determined to gettheir seasonfinished – and are prepared to play eight games infive weeksifneedbe.
Clubsinswpl2 are keen to getthe campaign to justover half-way, which would enablethe season to be declared, in line with a reconstruction that comesinto place next term.
With thecurtailed season agreed, Swpl2clubs meeting on Mondaynight agreed thattheywoulddo whatever it takes to the games played, and are eyeing themay 17 ret u r n toco n tact date issued by the Scottish Government.h
Acciescoac Gary Doctor said:“the 10 clubs metthis week and areallo f t h e sameopinion, thattheywantto play the gamesand are happy to wait and play the games, for as long as it takes.
“If that means playing through June and Julywe’re happy to dothat– whatever it takes to get games played.
“Theclubs haveagreed to reduce it to justover half the season, sothat’sthe target now, and trying to get some sort of understanding of whatthat May 17 date means.”
Clubs are waiting to see what travel restrictionscouldbeinforce when the country comesoutof lockdown, with SWPL2 featuring clubsaberdeen and St Johnstonein Perthshire.
Doctor added:“scottishwomen’s Football (SWF) are still indiscussions with the Scottishfa, who are in turn talking tothe government.
“Ultimately, I think we’re similar to a lot of other non-testing organisations that are currentlybeing asked to follow the national roadmap in termsof return to play, which sets a date of May 17 foradultoutdoor activity.
“We’recurtailedwith travel restrictions, despite being able to train non-contact,because being in the central belt you’ve got players from multiple local authorities.
“There are some areas that we don’t quite know enough about, in termsof the government’s travel guidance as we comeoutof the road-map.
“That couldbethe biggest stumbling blockforthe game, in which caset h at might still bethe case in Augustand might still bea problemforsport.
“It’stough and frustrating with these kind of guidelines, sothat’s where we are at the momentand we’re just hopefulofgetting back.
“Clubs would rather do whatever they can, even if it’s five weeksto fit in theeight games or whatever so that promotion is doneon the pitch, and then the restructureof the leagues can also goahead.
“That was voted through by clubs last year, fora new 10-team top division, and we wantto getthat sorted.there is a will from theclubs, and from theorganisation, toexplore every avenue.”
