LIB DEMS - AMANDA KUBIE

-

There is a lot to be proud of in Scottish education.

Time and time again teachers and learners adapted, worked hard and found a way forward. Whatever the ask, and whenever the call, teachers have worked flat out to give pupils the best education possible.

Sadly they were often badly let down by the Scottish Government and their education bodies who set up a dreadful exam system, issued guidance late, failed to deliver digital devices and bound everyone up in bureaucracy.

Scottish Liberal Democrats have been constructive throughout the pandemic.

We secured an extra £80 million for education in the Scottish budget, opposed John Swinney’s exams algorithm, and helped secure mass asymptomatic testing to make the school day safer.

It has been a time of great disruption and worry and it’s going to take time for education to bounce back from that.

It will require focus on what children and young people really need.

Making every hour spent in school count for more.

The Scottish Liberal

Democrats’education Bounce Back plan offers unprecedented new entitlements for pupils and staff and extra resources in every school.

We offer a teacher job guarantee to help reduce class sizes, more pupil support assistants to help with class work, expanded outdoor learning and new funded entitlements to local grassroots activities and sports over the holidays.

We will use enhanced Pupil Equity Funding won by Scottish Liberal Democrats to support those who need it.

With the Scottish Liberal Democrats there is a chance for change.

We have proposals for every stage and every age.

To get a good start in life, to excel at school and to help people retrain if they need to later in life.
