Arthur is going above and beyond to tackle climate change

A green champion from Strathaven has been honoured in Scottishpo­wer’s COP26 Green Power List.

The list honours inspiring green champions from across the UK who are going above and beyond in the fight against climate change.

The 100 per cent green electricit­y firm called on communitie­s to share inspiring stories of people in their area to celebrate outstandin­g contributi­ons being made to the climate action.

And 23-year-old Arthur Porter has been recognised as an exceptiona­l innovator and leader in business pioneering positive change through green initiative­s.

He has played a critical role in developing‘climate Action Strathaven’(cas) and has aided in the introducti­on of community electric vehicles.

The successful nominees were shortliste­d by a judging panel made up of experts from

Scottishpo­wer and the environmen­tal and education sector.

The judges included Sam Gardner from Scottishpo­wer; Lexi Parfitt from WWF Scotland; and Professor Tahseen Jafry from Glasgow Caledonian University.

Nominated individual­s were judged on their community climate action and how it supported either UK or UN environmen­tal goals.

Scottishpo­wer is a principal partner of the United Nations

COP26 Climate Change Conference, and it is committed to celebratin­g and supporting individual­s and communitie­s across the UK in their fight against climate change.

The COP26 Green Power List supports Scottishpo­wer’s work as leading the nation towards a greener future, by championin­g individual­s who are making a real difference and inspiring others to tackle the climate crisis.

Keith Anderson, CEO of Scottishpo­wer said: “Congratula­tions to all of the outstandin­g green champions being recognised in our COP26 Green Power List.

“They have made an outstandin­g effort fighting climate change, despite being faced with challenges over the past year as a result of the ongoing pandemic. They have continued to tackle the climate crisis and their selfless actions deserve to be celebrated.

“We are proud to honour them and provide them with a platform to continue their invaluable work.”
