Legal firm reaches charity milestone with legacy gifts
A legal firm have raised over £250,000 for end of life charity, Marie Curie, through legacy gifts.
It’s the seventh year running Hamilton-based Scullion LAW has supported Marie Curie, which has hospices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and provides care and support to terminally ill people and their families across Scotland.
Throughout the partnership, over 1000 people have left a gift to the charity since 2015 through Scullion LAW’S free will writing scheme.
Christine Devlin from Marie Curie said: “We are extremely grateful to the support received by Scullion LAW, and their generous clients who have left gifts in their wills for Marie Curie over the past seven years.
“To have received £250,000 is an incredible milestone, especially as the charity needs to raise this amount each week to support our services in Scotland. Now, more than ever, our services are needed. In the past year, we cared for over 9000 terminally ill people across Scotland, the highest on record since the charity began in 1948.
“It’s through local businesses, organisations and kind-hearted people that we are able to be there for people on their final journey.”

“We would like to thank every single one of our generous clients for their kind donations and we would also like to thank our hard working team for all of the care, passion and energy they put into this free will writing campaign year on year. We have been working closely with Marie Curie for several years. They are a charity very close to our hearts because they have been there at the bedside of our loved ones during their time of need. The power of their presence in the homes and hospices of people who are dying should really be celebrated.
“They make such a positive difference simply by being there and they bring peace of mind to families before, during and after throughout.
“We are delighted to continue working with Marie Curie and proud to celebrate our partnership today.”
The free will writing scheme is available to anyone aged 18 and over and can be booked online.
