Top performances put in as Law stars enjoy Cross Country tests

-

Law athletes impressed in distance events at home and further afield recently.

The club had a great turn out for the West District Cross Country earlier this month, as three senior women’s teams and three senior men’s teams, superbly backed up by three junior female teams and three junior male teams, competed against the best in the west.

With around 400 runners in the senior relays and just under 300 runners in the junior races, the competition was stiff.

That pushed athletes to produce strong performances, with the women’s team of Emily Mcnicol, Maddy Watson and Jessica Robson finishing fifth and the men’s teams all running well, with the best placed men’s team of Kieran Pugh, James Gillon, James Mcclafferty and Matthew Gillon claiming 20th place.

The junior athletes also produced some really good times, with the boy’s team of John Frood, Ryan Kellock and Oscar Logan finishing sixth.

Jack Rimmer, Daniel Simpson, Craig Cherrie and Blair Beverley also had good runs. John Frood posted the fifth fastest time for an under 13 boy and Ryan Kellock the eighth fastest time for an U15 boy.

Not to be outdone, the junior females came to the party with Olivia Inglis, sister Jessica Inglis and Fiona Currie in fifth place when Fiona had to pull out due to a chest infection

Jessica left her mark with the fourth fastest time for an U15 girl, which was another very good performance.

The other two teams of Isla Cameron, Rachel Stevenson, Yuki Faulds, Sophie Nelson, Hannah Jamieson, Amanda Quinn, Ayumi Faulds and Eilidh Cameron revelled in the tough conditions and performed really well.

Meanwhile, senior Ross Macdonald was running in the Manchester half marathon. Despite an injury after 4km, Ross finished in an impressive 01:12:09.

Exile member Ross Penny was running the full marathon distance and had a great first half. Unfortunately, he picked up a knee injury and completed the second half with a hobble, still finishing in an impressive three hours and 44 minutes.
