Appeal launched as family try to come to terms with Chris’s death
An appeal to help the family of a dad who died after an alleged attack has been launched.
Christopher Mcgee Mccallum was found injured in a garden in Hamilton and tragically passed away in hospital days later.
He leaves behind four children and a fundraiser has now been set up to support the youngsters who will experience Christmas without their dad for the first time.
Two men have since appeared in court and been charged with murder in connection with the 36-year-old’s death.
Known locally as Chris, the dad-of-four is remembered as a“loving and caring”man who did “everything for his children”.
The fundraiser will also raise money to help with Chris’s funeral costs, with more than £800 donated already.
A post on the gofundme page set up for Chris’s grieving family read:“we are helping to raise funds for Christopher Mcgee’s family and children at this sad time.
“Christopher Mcgee was 36 years old and has now left behind a caring family and four beautiful children, they were his pride and joy.
“Christopher was a family man and done everything for his children. Christopher was a fun-loving character full of laughter and banter and no matter what was going on in his life, he always had a smile for everyone, he will be sadly missed.
“Christopher’s family are doing all they can at the moment to stick together and be strong for their son, brother and father – life will never be the same again.
“We would like to help raise funds for the family to help towards the funeral costs and give Christopher’s children as good a Christmas as possible, being the first one without their dad.
“The family would really appreciate your help no matter how small. They would also like to thank everyone for their sincere condolences.”
Speaking to the Advertiser last week, Chris’s sister Cat Mcgee Mccallum paid tribute to her loving brother.
She told us:“chris had a big bubbly personality.
“He had a fun-loving caring character, and was always full of banter and could make anyone laugh when they were down.”
The alleged incident took place on Hill Street in Burnbank, Hamilton, where a memorial has since been in place containing bouquets of flowers.
One wreath seen at the display has the words “Friend Gbnf”inscribed as loved ones pay tribute.
However, one heartless yob was spotted stealing from the shrine on November 16.
In a bid to catch the thief, Cat shared CCTV footage which showed a hooded figure approach the memorial and snatch what was believed to be a bottle of wine.
