Under starter’s orders at Hamilton Park

Hamilton Park Racecourse is ready to open its gates to thousands of families and racegoers for their opening raceday this Sunday.

The 2022 season gets under starter’s orders with the Les Hoey MBE Dreammaker Foundation Family Raceday, closely followed by the Sky Bet Sunday Series Raceday the following weekend, Sunday, May 8.

The fun-filled family raceday promises a huge selection of free kid’s activities to entertain the little ones and big kids alike.

That include’s Denver’s Den Fun House, Pirate Assault Course, Surf Simulator, Nintendo Switch Battles as well as some returning favourites; Segways, Bungee Trampoline­s, Laser Tag and much, much more.

Hamilton Park will also be welcoming their newest partner, Strathclyd­e Sirens – Scotland’s only profession­al netball team – who will be appearing at the Paddock Lawn, where they will be giving everyone the opportunit­y to meet some of the team, and have a shot in the shooting circle.

The action-packed day will also feature seven thrilling races with over £100,000 in prize money on offer. Highlights include the £35,000Tangeri­netrees Conditions Stakes, which will be broadcast live on ITV & STV Racing, followed by the £30,000 Buttonhook Handicap Stakes.

Racecourse managing director, Ashley Moon, said:“excitement is in the air as we race towards opening our gates for what’s set to be our biggest season ever.

“On the track, we’re delighted to be offering record-breaking prize money of £1.6million, and we are committed to delivering an aspiration­al race programme which strikes an effective balance across all grades of race.

“As always, we’re topping and tailing the season with our much-loved Family Racedays which are fabulous days out for both families and racing enthusiast­s. We’ve also created an incredible season-long entertainm­ent programme with some special celebrity guests, which we’re sure will wow our racegoers.”

The racecourse has also continued to invest in their facilities including an upgrade of the Annual Members’bar whilst for hungry racegoers there’s the brand-new Paddock Cafe, offering delicious light bites and tasty treats, available for eat in or takeaway.
