A Strathaven audience were treated to a full evening of musical entertainment on Saturday as talented singers wowed the crowd.

The Town Mill Arts and Craft Centre put on a show titled A Night at the Musicals, a creation of Colin Thomas Bryce who is known as the ‘Tartan Tenor’.

Alongside Colin were three very accomplished singers – Vicki Atkinson, Claire Grehan and Chris Mcleish – who put on an amazing show singing songs from various famous musicals.

A very appropriate rendition of ‘Be Our Guest’ from Beauty and the Beast, sang by Colin, went down really well before Vicki followed with ‘Over the Rainbow’ from family favourite The Wizard of Oz.

Chris took the microphone next with ‘We Understand’ from the Little Shop of Horrors, before Claire stunned the audience with a sassy rendition of ‘All That Jazz’ from the musical Chicago.

This was a show with talented singers who strutted their stuff.

The setting on the night saw a stage with minimal in decoration and no props, with the ladies, Vicki and Claire wearing elegant gowns while the gents Colin and Chris wore jacket, shirt and tie.

The second half saw a change of outfits as Colin wore his ‘Tartan Tenor’ jacket and linked each song with some light hearted banter while engaging with the audience.

There followed some duets with a rendition of ‘The Last Night of the World’ from Miss Saigon sung by Colin and Claire – described as “a showstopper.”

There were a couple of encores. From Les Miserables, the song ‘One More Day’ followed by ‘Rewrite the Stars’ from the Greatest Showman.

The highlight of the show was Colin’s powerful performance of ‘Bring Him Home’, again from Les Mis.

Following Colin’s vote of thanks to all the staff at the Town Mill Theatre and the audience, the singers closed with a rendition of ‘Goodbye’.
