Protect your tank against fuel theft

Here at Police Scotland we have been responding to a rising number of calls regarding thefts of fuel from domestic and commercial tanks.

There are a few simple precaution­s you can take to protect your fuel tank:

• Using lockable gates

• Fitting a locking fuel cap or alarm • Install security lighting

• Check fuel tanks regularly

Report any suspicious activity to Police Scotland by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, April 26, police were dealing with an intelligen­celed operation and during this a vehicle was stopped in the Larkhall area.

A male and female were detained for the purposes of a drugs search, as was the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle 2kg of cocaine was recovered, worth £80,000.

Through enquiries it was also allegedly detected that the male driver did not have a driving licence.

A 31-year-old male was charged with drugs and road traffic offences and a 30-year-old female was charged with drug offences.

On Thursday, April 28, police were called to TK Maxx in Hamilton Retail Park regarding a male who was causing a disturbanc­e within the store.

The male allegedly produced a knife and began to threaten members of the public and staff. Police attended, and a male had to be restrained and arrested for several alleged offences including possession of a bladed article, assault and resisting arrest.

A 39-year-old male was arrested and held for court the following day.

In the early hours of Saturday, April 30, near to ROC nightclub in Hamilton, an incident took place where a male who had been involved in a disturbanc­e allegedly returned armed with two knives looking for another male. The suspect was chased and police attended. The male was traced nearby and arrested for possession of knives and disorder offences.
