Slipstreamers fly the flag at school games

FOUR young cyclists flew the flag for Hillingdon Slipstreamers at the Sainsbury’s School Games in Manchester.
Lorna Bowler, Harriet Mellor, Carl Jolly and Charles Page made the journey up the M6 for the big event at the National Cycling Centre last week.
The Hillingdon quartet represented one half of the entire England Central team at this year’s Games.
Mellor and Bowler started the weekend’s action in the Girls Sprint, Bowler finishing seventh and Mellor 24th. Both took part in the Girls Keirin, cycling in different finals with Bowler finishing 12th and Mellor 19th.
Jolly cycled in the Boys Keirin finishing 24th, while Page finished 20th in the Boys Pursuit. Page also took part in the boys 20km Sprint with team-mate Anthony Anderson, finishing in ninth.
On the final day, Mellor and Bowler joined forces to take part in the Girls Two-Lap Team Sprint where they finished 14th, while their-four girl team pursuit efforts yielded an eighth-place finish.
Both Jolly and Page cycled in the boys team pursuit in the 3,000m and finished inside the top 10.
Meanwhile, Bowler managed a second-place result at the British Cycling National Youth Circuit Series in Scarborough.
Millie Coleman finished first in one race and ended up eighth in the final standings of the U8s, while Jed Smithson came sixth in the U10s and finished fifth in the overall standings.
