Eastcote hold on as pair are sin binned

Home side take early lead but ill-discipline costs win HOCKEY

The home side made a dream start to the season with a 9-3 triumph over Oxford last week but could not take maximum points on game week two.

An early goal would have settled the nerves and even though they soon found the net, the goal was disallowed due to an infringement.

Eventually Simon Archer did have the crowd cheering though as he scored the opener from a short corner before half time.

Early in the second half, Hawks punished a bad first touch from an Eastcote defender to equalise.

Things got worse for the home team as two moments of illdiscipline saw Sam Formans and then Richard Ripper sin-binned.

They managed to hold on for a share of the spoils with a numerical disadvantage, however it puts more emphasis on Eastcote to get a result from Saturday’s visit to High Wycombe.

Also in Division One, Joe Gray, Ed Richards, Henry Stuttaford all notched to secure Old Merchant Taylors’ a 3-3 draw at home to Sonning.

Elsewhere, Eastcote Ladies produced the goods in the second half to secure a 1-0 triumph over Oxford, Marissa Gresophson breaking the deadlock after an assist from Lucy Allen.

And Old Uxonians ladies recorded a resounding 3-0 win over previously unbeaten PHC Chiswick fourths. Liz Laird struck early for Uxies to give them a 1-0 lead at half time before further goals from Lorna Parr and a second for Laird. Jo Verity and Lisa Kinder also starred.
