Santa Claus in a sleigh heralds Christmas lights switch on
The Uxbridge Gazette Series THE Uxbridge Christmas lights switch on could be the biggest and best ever.
Uxbridge is planning a candlelit parade through both the Pavilions and intu Uxbridge shopping centres, led by Santa Claus in a sleigh and including families, youth groups and shoppers.
Both shopping centres and the main thoroughfare will have their Christmas lights switched off for the duration of the parade on Sunday, November 23, said Mike Crane of town centre improvement body Uxbridge Forward.
“There is nothing more magical than the excitement and joy that children have for Christmas, which is why we want children and young people to be a key element of our town centre Christmas parade,” he said.
School and youth organisations are needed to take part, and children will have the chance to make a puppet to carry with them on the day. A puppet workshop will be held the previous Sunday.
More details of the event will be publicised as they are confirmed.
Schools and youth groups wanting to take part in the parade can contact Mr Crane via email at mcrane@uxbridgeforward. co.uk
