Brunel’s dis­play is on the up and up

ALTHOUGH a cou­ple of fire­work dis­plays that were once a reg­u­lar fea­ture of the Hilling­don cal­en­dar are not run­ning this year, there are still plenty to daz­zle you across west London.

Ar­guably one of the best is at Brunel Univer­sity, which has been grow­ing in scale in re­cent years.

This year it is at the run­ning track, to al­low the univer­sity to of­fer even more en­ter­tain­ment, in­clud­ing a surf sim­u­la­tor and a win­ter mar­ket.

There will also be a wider se­lec­tion of re­fresh­ments on sale, from burg­ers and chips to tof­fee ap­ples and cakes.

Stu­dent vol­un­teers will be act­ing as stew­ards and col­lect­ing do­na­tions for a range of char­i­ties. You can do­nate on the night by get­ting your face painted or hav­ing a go at one of the games, such as the Gla­di­a­tor Joust or Bungee Run.

Tick­ets can be bought on­line (see be­low), on cam­pus or in The Pavil­ions shop­ping cen­tre in Uxbridge High Street on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 25 and Satur­day and Sun­day, Novem­ber 1 and 2.
