STUDENTS impressed a BBC London news presenter with their hard work and determination to succeed at an annual prizegiving evening.

Young people at Ruislip High School welcomed broadcast journalist Alice Bhandhukravi to the school in Sidmouth Drive on Tuesday last week.

The school held its fourth presentation evening to celebrate the dedication, hard work and achievements of students over the past academic year with parents, staff, governors and other special guests.

The BBC news presenter, who visited the school once before to report on the creation of a First World War trench by students and staff, delivered an inspirational speech about her personal journey to become a successful journalist.

She said: “I was not disappointed by my second visit to Ruislip High this year. I was struck by the enthusiasm and dedication of the students, and the strong school ethos. It seems like a happy, hard-working community which is rightfully succeeding.”

Prizes were awarded to students from every year group across the school for either achievement or effort shown in particular subjects or extra-curricular activities, as well as performances showcasing the students’ acting and musical talents.
