Walk from north Wales to Sipson

215-mile trek for children’s charity

- By Laura Hatcher

A YOUNG woman is walking from north Wales to Sipson to raise money for the charity Action for Children.

Rachael Roberts is due to complete the 215-mile, seven-day solo walk on Saturday, November 15.

The 22-year-old set off from her home town of Llandudno and expected to arrive at the Grow Heathrow project in Vineries Close, Sipson, after a week camping and sleeping on friends and acquaintances’ sofas.

After a previous visit to the squat, in a former nursery on land once earmarked for a third runway for Heathrow Airport, Miss Roberts said she asked herself, ‘I wonder how long it would take to walk it?’

This led to the idea of the sponsored walk to support Grow Heathrow’s eco-friendly work and raise money for the charity.

She will video her journey and upload it to her YouTube channel for people to follow the experience.

Action for Children is a charity that aims to help more than 300,000 children and young people across the UK who need their help and support to overcome tough obstacles in their lives. They deal with issues such as child deprivation and abuse.
