Up to 60 jobs cre­ated by restau­rant open­ing

RESTAU­RANT chain Chiq­uito will cre­ate up to 60 jobs when it opens a branch in Uxbridge next month, the company con­firmed last week.

The Mex­i­can eatery is due to open in intu Uxbridge shop­ping cen­tre in mid-De­cem­ber, although a date has yet to be de­ter­mined.

The company, which op­er­ates 75 restau­rants across the UK, has be­gun re­cruit­ing for the new out­let, which 166.

Spokes­woman Jac­que­line Fletcher said they will need be­tween 45 and 60 staff, from man­agers to chefs and wait­ers.

She added: “We are re­ally look­ing for­ward to open­ing in Uxbridge and we are ex­cited to bring some Tex-Mex cui­sine to the area.”

The lo­ca­tion was orig­i­nally ear­marked for a new Waga­mama, but the Ja­panese restau­rant chain in­stead chose a 2,630 sq ft unit in High Street, be­tween Nando’s and Bella Italia.

Waga­mama is also ex­pected to open next month, fol­lowed next year by Amer­i­can-Ital­ian 50s-style restau­rant Frankie and Benny’s.

Both Chiq­uito and Frankie and Benny’s are owned by The Restau­rant Group, which also op­er­ates Gar­funkel’s, among other house­hold names.
