Up to 60 jobs created by restaurant opening

RESTAURANT chain Chiquito will create up to 60 jobs when it opens a branch in Uxbridge next month, the company confirmed last week.

The Mexican eatery is due to open in intu Uxbridge shopping centre in mid-December, although a date has yet to be determined.

The company, which operates 75 restaurant­s across the UK, has begun recruiting for the new outlet, which 166.

Spokeswoma­n Jacqueline Fletcher said they will need between 45 and 60 staff, from managers to chefs and waiters.

She added: “We are really looking forward to opening in Uxbridge and we are excited to bring some Tex-Mex cuisine to the area.”

The location was originally earmarked for a new Wagamama, but the Japanese restaurant chain instead chose a 2,630 sq ft unit in High Street, between Nando’s and Bella Italia.

Wagamama is also expected to open next month, followed next year by American-Italian 50s-style restaurant Frankie and Benny’s.

Both Chiquito and Frankie and Benny’s are owned by The Restaurant Group, which also operates Garfunkel’s, among other household names.
