Travellers on public land told to move

-

BAILIFFS will remove travellers from public land in South Ruislip if they continue to ignore orders for them to leave.

Two caravans and a car have been parked on a cycle path in West End Road since Friday, November 28.

Hillingdon Council has served notices ordering them to leave, but they have not done so.

On Thursday, December 4, the authority served them with court orders obtained from Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.

It is now arranging for bailiffs to remove the travellers if they do not comply with the orders.

A council spokeswoman said: “As a council we refuse to tolerate anyone who settles illegally in our borough and will take robust action against them. We will hold them accountable for any litter and damage they may have caused.”

Ward councillor Judy Kelly said: “I support proper designated sites for travellers but I cannot support their right to just park anywhere they want.”
