Keep na­ture re­serve in trim to help wildlife thrive

JOIN in with prac­ti­cal con­ser­va­tion work to im­prove the habi­tat, land­scape and ac­cess at a beau­ti­ful na­ture re­serve.

Vol­un­teers will be work­ing to clear over­grown veg­e­ta­tion to im­prove foot­path ac­cess, cop­pic­ing bud­dleia and cre­at­ing habi­tat piles from dead­wood, to en­cour­age bio­di­ver­sity and wildlife to flour­ish.

The event is suit­able for all ages – take the whole fam­ily. Tools and work gloves will be pro­vided but take your own re­fresh­ments and dress ap­pro­pri­ately for the weather, wear sturdy boots or wellies. What? Vol­un­teer con­ser­va­tion tasks Where? Schools, busi­nesses and other or­gan­i­sa­tions each de­sign and dec­o­rate a tree; all will be dis­played and il­lu­mi­nated in the church.

Sev­eral lo­cal school choirs will per­form on a stage just out­side the church to the au­di­ence gath­ered in Oak­lands Gate, where they will be flanked by char­ity stalls.

North­wood Li­brary is stay­ing open and or­gan­is­ing Christ­mas ac­tiv­i­ties, and shops will stay open later for fes­tive shop­ping – some will be serv­ing mulled wine and mince pies.
