Haigh shines but oth­ers miss chances

KEVIN Haigh kept up his fine scor­ing form but Eastcote men’s first XI stut­tered to a draw against mid-ta­ble op­po­si­tion.

Haigh scored in the first half, but sev­eral more op­por­tu­ni­ties were wasted and Walling­ford hit back after the break.

The re­sult on Satur­day cou­pled with the last week’s post­pone­ment be­cause of a frozen pitch means Eastcote have slipped to five points be­hind Ox­ford Hawks seconds and Ox­ford seconds in the di­vi­sion.

How­ever, the Boars do have a game in hand. They play Staines seconds on Satur­day, Jan­uary 10.

In the same di­vi­sion, Old Mer­chant Tay­lors’ were nar­rowly beaten at home by Ox­ford Hawks seconds (3-2). Their next game is at home to Wy­combe on Jan­uary 17.

The women’s team are al­ready on their Christ­mas break and there was fes­tive cheer for the U14s Dragons, who won their first match of the sea­son 5-4 against Eal­ing, thanks to a hat-trick from Ol­lie Lazare­vic and goals by Sher­win Von Gurm and Tun­veer Man­gat.


Old Ux­o­ni­ans’ match against Ash­ford Ladies’ seconds in Middx Women’s League Di­vi­sion Two was can­celled be­cause of a frozen pitch. They are back in ac­tion on Jan­uary 10 at home to Winch­more Hill and En­field Ladies seconds.

Di­vi­sional ri­vals Old Mer­chant Tay­lors’ Duchesses have al­ready fin­ished their 2014 fix­tures and re­sume in the new year with a visit to Staines thirds.
