Borough-born man hunted by Interpol

Crime suspect one of the world’s most wanted

- By Alan Hayes alan.hayes@trinitymirror.com

ONE of the most wanted men in the world was born in Hillingdon according to Interpol.

Roy Lawrence Piechocki was born in Hillingdon in 1961 and is now wanted by law enforcement agencies in the United States for 10 counts of sexually exploiting a minor.

Now 51 and standing at just under 6ft tall with brown hair and blue eyes, Piechocki is one of the most wanted men in the world.

There are 11 Londoners on the Interpol most wanted list in total, including kidnappers, drugs traffickers and murderers.

Out of the 307 people wanted by Interpol, 71 are UK nationals, including the notorious terrorism suspect Samantha Lewthwaite, the ‘White Widow’, who was born in Northern Ireland in 1983.

Their supposed crimes range from pre-meditated murder, child sex offences and kidnapping to criminal conspiracy, fraud and cheating.

They are wanted by countries from all around the world with the United States searching for 16 of them and India searching for 10.

Other countries seeking UK nationals include Pakistan, Brazil, Vietnam, Djibouti and Qatar.

Interpol is an international crime agency set up to help aid police co-operation around the world.

Countries will post notices to Interpol detailing the person they are looking for and the crimes that they are suspected of having committed.

The idea is then that forces around the world will lend a hand looking for these wanted people.

However, co-operation is not always guaranteed.

Lorraine Davies, who is from Bridgend in South Wales, has been wanted by Canadian law enforcement for more than 20 years and despite living minutes away from a police station has not been handed over by the UK authorities.

Bizarrely, the Canadians say they will only prosecute if Davies stumps up the cash for the flight there herself.

Of the 71 UK nationals wanted by police seven are women.
