Teen rail fan wins top

The 17-year-old, who lives in Martin Close, Uxbridge, was tak­ing part in an an­nual film­mak­ing com­pe­ti­tion run by the Youth Rail En­thu­si­asts As­so­ci­a­tion.

A for­mer stu­dent of Vyn­ers School, in War­ren Road, Ick­en­ham, Sam said he wanted his film – What Rail­ways Mean to Me – to show view­ers how he got in­ter­ested in trains, what he likes about them and how the peo­ple he met through his in­ter­est have helped him through dif­fi­cult times.

He has now won a cab ride in an East Mid­lands train out of London’s St Pan­cras sta­tion, first class tick­ets to any Grand Cen­tral rail­way des­ti­na­tion, re­turn
