Ice rink proved a bigger draw this year
SKATER numbers at Uxbridge’s festive ice rink this year were well up on 12 months ago.
As the final packing up of the seasonal skating venue took place this week, figures released by Hillingdon Council showed 27 per cent more people took to the ice outside Hillingdon Civic Centre than last year.
A total of 18,484 skated, compared to 14,611 last year.
In 2012-13, 11,180 visited the rink.
The rink was covered this year meaning whatever the weather, everyone could have a go at ice skating over the festive period.
Borough resident Matt Wilkins won a free family skating session online via the council’s Twitter feed.
He said: “Yes, it was brilliant, the whole family had a really great time skating round.”
