A&E consultant is a ‘rising star’

-

A CLINICIAN at Hillingdon Hospital has been recognised as one of the NHS’s ‘rising stars’.

Nick Jenkins, who is on secondment with Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital in Pield Heath Road, was one of 25 clinical and non-clinical staff chosen by a panel of health experts. The judges described him as ‘extremely humble and committed to good care’.

“It was a great surprise,” said the A&E consultant. “One of my key projects is encouraging greater use of physician associates (PAs) in the UK, who are trained professionals who work with doctors in the diagnosis and management of patients,” he added.

The programme aims to recruit 200 experienced PAs from the US as part of a two-year secondment, as well as nurture a new generation of UK PAs.
