Shop­ping cen­tre to spon­sor hospice nurse

INTU Uxbridge shop­ping cen­tre is to do­nate £25,000 to the Michael So­bell Hospice to spon­sor one of its nurses for a year.

The shop­ping mall will part­ner with the hospice, based at Mount Ver­non Hos­pi­tal in North­wood, for 2015 and is in the early stages of plan­ning a ‘But­ter­fly Ball’ to raise money.

It has also pledged to help re­dec­o­rate a hospice room for pa­tients and fam­i­lies.

Mar­ket­ing man­ager at intu Uxbridge, Craig Hig­gins, said: “We’re proud to be in part­ner­ship with Michael So­bell Hospice, a char­ity that does some great work in our com­mu­nity.

“The intu Uxbridge team is look­ing for­ward to mak­ing a big dif­fer­ence this year by help­ing to raise vi­tal funds for the char­ity.” A launch took place on Satur­day (Jan­uary 24) at­tended by Hilling­don mayor Cather­ine Dann and the hospice’s chief ex­ec­u­tive He­len El­liott.

Ms El­liott said: “We are de­lighted that Intu Uxbridge will be sup­port­ing us this year.

“Their cam­paign is a fan­tas­tic way of rais­ing aware­ness for Michael So­bell Hospice within the lo­cal com­mu­nity and of course rais­ing much needed funds for the care of our pa­tients.”

As part of the fundrais­ing ef­forts, the launch will also see pin badges, which rep­re­sent a but­ter­fly from the cen­tre’s but­ter­fly in­stal­la­tion, go on sale for a min­i­mum £1 do­na­tion which will go to­wards fundrais­ing for the hospice.
