HA6 1PA CY­CLISTS are be­ing en­cour­aged to sign up for a spon­sored bike ride to raise money for a hospice.

Michael So­bell Hospice will hold its On Your Bike event on Sun­day, May 17 from 8am.

Long and short routes will begin and end at the hospice, in Mount Ver­non Hos­pi­tal, Rick­mansworth Road, North­wood.

The seven-mile route is open to adults and chil­dren aged be­tween seven and 16, who must be ac­com­pa­nied by an adult, tak­ing rid­ers through Hare­field and Ruis­lip.

The 33-mile route will take more ex­pe­ri­enced cy­clists through scenic coun­try lanes to­wards Amer­sham, Bov­ing­don and Hemel Hemp­stead, with mar­shals on hand to give di­rec­tions.

A wa­ter and com­fort stop will be avail­able at the Boot Tav­ern, in Tower Hill, Chip­per­field.

Event or­gan­iser Ophe­lia Cham­bers-Henry said: “This year we would like to at­tract more than 200 cy­clists to this event. Last year we had great feed­back from the rid­ers and we would like to make the event even big­ger this year.”

Adult reg­is­tra­tion costs £15 be­fore May 8, or £20 af­ter­wards or on the day. Child reg­is­tra­tion costs £10.

All pro­ceeds will go to­wards the hospice, which cares for pa­tients with life-lim­it­ing ill­nesses.
