Gazette’s top honour
TRINITY Mirror titles including the Uxbridge Gazette, picked up gongs at the ACE Awards for the newspaper and magazine industry.
The Gazette team came up trumps in the Circulation Excellence by a Free Publication category, prompting jubilant scenes at the Dorchester, in London, on April 16.
The Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror picked up Circulation Excellence by a National Newspaper awards to cap off a successful night for Trinity, which claimed three of the 11 awards.
It followed changes for the Gazette and sister titles The Hounslow Chronicle and Ealing Gazette, in June which saw them switch from being paid-for to free titles available at pick-up points and shops around their boroughs.
Circulation manager Craig Willetts said: “This is a great award for Trinity Mirror Southern, for the recognition by the team in setting up this distribution model. The aim was for these titles to be more accessible to customers in West London and to drive business to newsagents.
“To be recognised in the most prestigious newspaper sales awards of the year is a success in itself but to win it against some mighty opposition was unbelievable, and a credit to the whole team involved.”
Trinity Mirror dominated the shortlists, with nine nominations in total. Now in their 64th year, the ACE awards celebrate excellence with-in the field of publishing in the UK.
