work based train­ing whilst con­tin­u­ing to study to­wards a recog­nised vo­ca­tional qual­i­fi­ca­tion (NVQ's). In the first year of the ap­pren­tice­ship you are paid to go to the Industrial Train­ing Cen­tre at Kingston Col­lege for forty weeks, where you spend four days a week learn­ing prac­ti­cal skills and one day a week

learn­ing en­gi­neer­ing the­ory. For the re­main­der of the ap­pren­tice­ship you learn on the job and at­tend Col­lege one day a week to achieve a BTEC Level 3 Di­ploma in En­gi­neer­ing. You will be trained in the work­place in all ar­eas such as Ma­chin­ing, Non De­struc­tive Testing, Paintstrip/Tear­down, and Hy­draulics. You will need to have at least 5 GCSE’s at

grade B or above for Maths, English, Science and two other sub­jects. We are look­ing for flex­i­bil­ity, team spirit, good com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills, de­ter­mi­na­tion and high lev­els of self-mo­ti­va­tion. You must be able to com­mute be­tween the Hayes Fa­cil­ity and Kingston Col­lege.
