The 1965 Humber Sceptre Mark 1 ( pictured left) was stolen from a friend’s garage in Cowley, Uxbridge, on Tuesday June 9.

The owner, who lives in Hillingdon and does not want to be named until the car is recovered, has had the car for three years. He said: “Now that I’m semi-retired my children had great ideas for it.

Classic cars are the man’s hobby, he says, and he hoped to show the car in the near future. He added: “I’ve always wanted a classic car. I much prefer them to the new ones that come out.

“I had to go all the way to Cornwall to view the car and have it towed back. I really enjoy driving it.”

The car was kept in a garage off Cowley Road, and was secured by four heavy duty padlocks.

The owner checked the car on Monday June 8 and returned on Wednesday June 10 to see the garage had been opened.

He reported the car stolen to police and believes it was taken on the Tuesday evening.
