Clubs jumping for joy after championships
THREE of the borough’s trampolining clubs raked in the medals at the London Regional Trampoline Championship finals at Harlington Sports centre.
More than 130 gymnasts from 11 clubs across the capital took part in the region’s first two-day event, with competitors qualifying from four events earlier this year.
The Championships saw the best performances across the four ability groups, from novice through to advanced, with jumpers aged between six and 70 years old.
In total, 15 groups competed set routines and voluntary routines on the Saturday, with the top eight in each category going through to Sunday’s final.
Coney Hall Cosmonauts, based in Hayes, and South Ruislip’s Queensmead each bagged three gold, one silver and three bronzes, while Harlington Hawks also scored one gold.
Summer-Mae O’Neill (gold), Grace Scott (gold), Victoria Bathe (gold), Step Haiselden (silver), Karen Gent (bronze), Brian Edwards (bronze) and Cameron Butler (bronze) starred for the Cosmonauts.
Will McKane (gold), Charlotte Mitchell (gold), Sophie Harbert (gold), Leyla Goodwin (silver), Lauren McCarthy (bronze), Scarlet Devaney (bronze) and Sabrina Reid (bronze) took the prizes for Queensmead.
William Godbolt was the golden boy in Harlington Hawks’ ranks.
