Clubs jump­ing for joy af­ter cham­pi­onships

THREE of the bor­ough’s tram­polin­ing clubs raked in the medals at the Lon­don Re­gional Trampoline Cham­pi­onship fi­nals at Har­ling­ton Sports cen­tre.

More than 130 gym­nasts from 11 clubs across the cap­i­tal took part in the re­gion’s first two-day event, with com­peti­tors qual­i­fy­ing from four events ear­lier this year.

The Cham­pi­onships saw the best per­for­mances across the four abil­ity groups, from novice through to ad­vanced, with jumpers aged be­tween six and 70 years old.

In to­tal, 15 groups com­peted set rou­tines and vol­un­tary rou­tines on the Satur­day, with the top eight in each cat­e­gory go­ing through to Sun­day’s fi­nal.

Coney Hall Cos­mo­nauts, based in Hayes, and South Ruis­lip’s Queens­mead each bagged three gold, one sil­ver and three bronzes, while Har­ling­ton Hawks also scored one gold.

Sum­mer-Mae O’Neill (gold), Grace Scott (gold), Vic­to­ria Bathe (gold), Step Haiselden (sil­ver), Karen Gent (bronze), Brian Ed­wards (bronze) and Cameron But­ler (bronze) starred for the Cos­mo­nauts.

Will McK­ane (gold), Char­lotte Mitchell (gold), So­phie Har­bert (gold), Leyla Good­win (sil­ver), Lau­ren McCarthy (bronze), Scar­let De­vaney (bronze) and Sab­rina Reid (bronze) took the prizes for Queens­mead.

Wil­liam God­bolt was the golden boy in Har­ling­ton Hawks’ ranks.
