Learning music – no fret

-

VYNERS Academy in Ickenham has signed up a Brazilian-born singer songwriter to teach rock music classes.

Bianca Obina will encourage young people aged seven to 18 to develop their vocal talents when The Rock Project runs weekly evening classes at the school in Warren Road from this month.

The award-winning artist, who has a masters degree in song-writing, released her first album Artesa in 2013. She joined a series of taster sessions at the school in July and is looking forward to the official launch of Rock Project this month.

Bianca said: “It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to help young people learn and make music together in such an inspiring environment. Pritpal Chitroda, who gave up a successful career as a chartered accountant to launch the Rock Project in Ickenham, explained how important it is for students to learn from working musicians.

“Having a musician of the calibre of Bianca on board helps to inspire the students, it also builds their confidence to get up and perform.”

The Rock Project, which has 30 franchises across the UK, teaches guitar, bass, drums and vocals to young people.

The sessions at Vyners School Academy will be on Thursdays from 4.15pm-6.15pm for 7 to 11 year olds and 6.30pm to 8.30pm for 12 to 18 year olds.
