A BRAVE estate agent at Gibbs Gillespie’s Uxbridge office has been shortlisted for a national award.

Holly Pendred, 25, from Ruislip has been nominated for helping an elderly woman who was being mugged.

The incident took place on July 15 at around 7pm outside the company’s Pinner office.

The young estate agent said: “I saw what looked like two people arguing, but as I drove closer I realised the lady was being attacked by a man who was trying to steal her handbag.”

As Holly realised what was happening she said: “I slammed on the brake and jumped out and ran towards them. The man ran off with the lady’s bag.”

The victim appeared unhurt, but was quite shaken up by the ordeal. Holly, along with a few other people stayed with the woman until the police arrived.

A female driver who witnessed the incident told police she had seen the mugger run off towards a nearby street.

Holly went with officers in the police car to help search for the man. During the drive, she spotted the man and police were able to arrest him.

Modest Holly played down her heroics in the ordeal, as she said her reaction to help the woman was instinctive.

She said: “I saw him attacking the elderly lady and thought I’m not letting this happen. If it was my mum or nan I’d want someone to help them.”

Her courageous act in chasing off the attacker has been entered and shortlisted for the Employee of 2015 contest Relocation Network (RAN).

If successful, Holly could receive a prize of up to £500 from award sponsor, TM training & development.

RAN is a network of hand-picked estate agencies from England, Scotland and Wales and the competition attracted dozens of entries from various estate agents across the UK.

James Gibbs of Gibbs Gillespie said: “Holly is a credit to our company, her family and society. We are enormously proud of her and wish good luck in the competition.”

The competition winner will be announced at an awards evening on Friday, to be hosted by comedian Tim Vine at the Park Plaza Hotel in London. the Year run by
