Carols, bonanzas and more

-

AS an urban branch much of our money, time and resources is spent attending road traffic accidents. These are usually cats and wildlife. If the cat is not microchipped it is very difficult to reunite it with its owner.

Life-saving veterinary procedures may have to be made in a hurry and often when the cat is not claimed we are left with an amputee to be found a sheltered home, or a cat in need of longterm after care.

Wildlife is networked to an RSPCA specialist centre, and if the injury is only slight, happily released back into the wild.

Macavity in our picture is one such cat, found very injured with a badly broken leg which had to be amputated.

The cost to our branch exceeds £500 and as he was not neutered we have added to this cost sterilisation, innoculation and that all important microchip.

He is a loving cat if a little shy and we would love to hear from you if you can offer him a loving home this Christmas.

We also have several beautiful guinea pigs on the lookout for new homes, including the small litter we are very proud to have successfully hand-reared from two days old.

Guinea pigs are sociable and friendly animals but like all pets require commitment to their specific accommodation, dietary and health needs. First time owners should do their research.

We have recently launched our Christmas Appeal which you can check out on our website for ways to donate, or maybe you could help distribute some flyers for us.

Our Hillingdon charity shops are opening every Sunday through December with a special Bonanza Night on December 15, 5-7pm and every Wednesday where we will be selling donated designer handbags, glitz evening wear and more.

On Wednesday, December 16 please join us for carols outside clinic at 16 Crescent Parade 5pm to 7pm.

The bad news this week is that our trusty animal van has been written off in a road traffic accident of its own!

Thank goodness no one was hurt, but we are urgently seeking a replacement on a very tight budget – we have never been lucky enough to get a sponsorship but this active van does thousands of miles locally and would do credit to such a scheme.

If you think you can offer one of our animals a loving home then please ring 01895 833417 or visit www.rspcahillingdonclinic.org.uk to download an application form.
