THE HILLINGDON Half Marathon is back for a third year and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Runners can take part in the 13.1 mile half marathon or try the new 10k (6.2 mile) race on Easter Monday, March 28.

The race will be organised by Active Training World under UKA rules and hosted at Brunel University London’s campus, where the race will begin and end.

James Shipley, a race organiser with Ac t i v e Tr ai n i n g Wo rl d , said: “We want to keep the race fresh and exciting so this year we have introduced the new 10k event and also made some changes to the previous half marathon course.

“In the last two years we have seen fantastic support from runners and spectators so hopefully that will continue once again in 2016.

“We are also thrilled to announce that a local company have become the headline sponsors of the race. Bird & Lovibond is a local law firm.”

The race is open to anyone aged 17 and over and passes through parts of Uxbridge, Cowley, Yiewsley, Stockley and Hillingdon.

Gary Bennett, Managing Partner at Bird & Lovibond Solicitors, are sponsoring the race as they feel it’s “important to support the local communities that we serve”.

He said: “This support takes many forms and we are delighted to be able to include sponsorship of the Hillingdon Half Marathon to our support programme.

“Many local people enter the event and it helps to raise money for charities which are chosen by and therefore close to the hearts of the individual participants.

“We will be entering a team, so why not join us!”
